If you've ever tried to write something longer than a letter with Microsoft Word, Word Perfect or other word processors, you'll know that they are very 'trying'. If you attempt to add graphics or 'push and shove' things around, you will soon recognize that they are not good for publishing. They can drive you mad! If you are a PC user, then you should try Microsoft Publisher. It's a very good program and has gotten better over the years. When first released it was better than MS Word and now it is much better. You can do a book with it, once you get the hang of it. One of the most annoying parts of MS Word is trying to keep text where it belongs relative to graphics. It is much easier in Publisher. 14/03/2009 11:03 PM

You can do anything from a Z-fold flyer to a major book and get things right. Printing 'two or more up' is easy and so is a thing called 'kerning'. It allows you to fiddle with the spacing of text to fit things where you want them. If you've ever done a big document in MS Word and later been forced to add to it, You will see that things wander around and you get headings displaced. It's really can become quite a mess. If it wasn't for everybody sending me documents in MS Word format, I would junk it and never use it again. Microsoft has added and added to it, but it can't compete with Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft does not want it to do so, either.
