MPP Carol Mitchell was busy on Thursday morning as she announced another significant grant in Walkerton for the Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 102

Thanks to a recently awarded $51,800 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), the Legion will be able to complete the second phase of a building improvement project to their important community facility. MPP Mitchell was joined by an OTF representative to present a plaque marking the special occasion.

Over the next year, the grant will help to replace the existing 20-year-old boiler system, as well as insulate the ceiling, front entrance and exterior walls. The funds will also be used to install a maintenance-free exterior siding with a 15-year finish guarantee. These upgrades will serve to increase energy efficiency and comfort levels for the hundreds of users in the Walkerton area.

“These renovations to the Legion are a part our government's on-going commitment to build and sustain the economies of Ontario’s small and rural communities,” said Carol Mitchell. “By making the Legion more energy efficient and low maintenance, it will allow the legion to run more effectively and proficiently for years to come.”
