The Lighthouse has finally been installed in Vaughn Mills Mall for a minimum of 12 years.

The brainchild of Marketing Guru Chris Hughes of Bruce County Tourism will be the spot to meet and re-meet friends and family at the Mall.  It will be a beacon of Bruce County  Tourism.  Can you imagine a better return on investment in a marketing sense?  The millions of visitors to the Mall will be treated with one of the most unusual sights ever to grace a large urban complex.

The Lighthouse is fully functional and could be installed in any Port on the Great Lakes with little modification.  It is equipped with a working light and has an external flat screen TV with high definition to promote the beauty of the Bruce for visitors to the largest mall in Ontario.

Chris knew that it was a good idea, since Bruce County uses a Lighthouse as its symbol with great success, but he needed somebody to build it.  You can't look up people who build lighthouses with a Google Search, but Chris knew the power and pluck of the Propeller Club and the Marine Heritage Society, so he called and got a yes.  "Give us the plans and we will build it".  The Saugeen Times Reported last week:

"Just a note to regular readers.  The Propeller Club members and Chris Hughes installed the Lighthouse in the Vaughn Mills Mall.  They left Thursday about 1 pm and worked until 4 am in the morning.  After a bit of shut-eye, they returned on Friday morning for the final touches."
