Town Committees Recommended

The Striking Committee met on December 19th to review and recommend various committee appointments which are made at the halfway point of the current Council's term of office.

The Committees include residents from the community, who put their names forward, in addition to Council members. There are 17 confirmed committees in total with approximately 80 appointments.

The committees include:

Accessibility Advisory Committee, Airport Committee, Business Improvement Area - Port Elgin, Doctor Recruitment Committee, Emergency Management Program Committee, Municipal Heritage Committee, Parks & Trails Committee,Planning Advisory Committee, Police Services Board, Westario Power, Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority,Saugeen Rail Trail Association, Impact Advisory Committee, Lake Huron Shoreline Tourism Association, Chamber of Commerce, Community Improvement Plan Port Elgin, Bruce Area Sold Waste Recycling Committee.

There is also the Environmental Mandate Sub-Committee until it is decided whether or not an Environmental Committee will be struck. Among the municipalities in Ontario that have an Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC) are Cambridge, Durham, Guelph, Haliburton, Huntsville, Hamilton, Kawartha Lakes, Kingston, Kitchener, London, Markham, Niagara, Peterborough, Sarnia, Waterloo and Woodstock.

In addition, there is also the Transportation for Disabilities Ad-Hoc Committee, which is working on acquiring a transit system for the Saugeen Shores area.
