New organizer needed for Christmas in the Village

The Christmas in the Village home tour has been a fund-raiser held in Tiverton for the past eight years, on the odd year, alternating with the event in Kincardine. It began in 2001 with the intention of raising money to bring Tiverton's main street back to its former glory.

The Municipality of Kincardine then jumped onboard, paving the way for the new downtown streetscape in Tiverton, the wonderful gardens and planters that are maintained by the Communities in Bloom committee, and now the completion of St. Andrews Park. Downtown Tiverton has never looked better.

Over the years, funds raised by Christmas in the Village were used to support Communities in Bloom in its endeavours and to purchase some of the benches seen around the village. Hundreds of people have enjoyed the tour, with almost 30 homes in the village being shown.

However, with the downtown and the rest of the village looking so good, there is no further need for the fund-raiser. If another group is interested in organizing the Christmas in the Village to raise funds, contact Michelle Lamont at 519-368-5350.
