The Church in the Wildwood Saint Margaret

During the 1920's the Reverend R.W. James conceived the idea of building a replic of a Norman church in Lindsay Township as the local people of the area desired to have their own Church.  It was accomplished just south of Cape Chin.

The Norman style allows it to appear friendly, strong and in proportion.  It has a new roof and a new floor.  The only jarring note is that it has a stone memorial nearby that was clearly constructed by a tombstone maker.  It wants to be a bench, but it looks like a  tombstone in black marble.

If you're up that way, stop in at the Cape Chin Country Inn for lunch or dinner and visit the Church.  Take a dessert there and sit on the picnic tables out in front.  It's still and you can 'hear your thoughts'.

It's a tiny Church that is complete with delightful bell that we felt obligated to ring.  Unlike most churches, it was not locked and everything was in order for Sunday Service.
