The Church in the Wildwood Saint Margaret During the 1920's the Reverend R.W. James conceived the idea of building a replic of a Norman church in Lindsay Township as the local people of the area desired to have their own Church. It was accomplished just south of Cape Chin. 06/06/2009 04:25 PM

The Norman style allows it to appear friendly, strong and in proportion. It has a new roof and a new floor. The only jarring note is that it has a stone memorial nearby that was clearly constructed by a tombstone maker. It wants to be a bench, but it looks like a tombstone in black marble. If you're up that way, stop in at the Cape Chin Country Inn for lunch or dinner and visit the Church. Take a dessert there and sit on the picnic tables out in front. It's still and you can 'hear your thoughts'. It's a tiny Church that is complete with delightful bell that we felt obligated to ring. Unlike most churches, it was not locked and everything was in order for Sunday Service. |
