"The Secret of Live is in Art" (Oscar Wilde)

The Artful Hands Show and Sale takes place Sept 11, 12, & 13.

The event is a new (and "first annual") juried show of fine art and craft featuring Kincardine and District artists and artisans.

For over 15 years an annual summer artists studio tour in the area has enjoyed success. In order to help increase the number of people attending, the Kincardine Visual Arts committee decided to invite artists to come together in one place. We choose the Walker House Heritage Center as a way to promote both heritage and the arts in Kincardine.

With the help of the BIA and an Enbridge Grant , Artful Hands is able to budget for media advertising, opening reception and rental of the location. Participants pay a booth fee, and for three days display the best of their
art and craft work. The event meets the objectives of the BIA Provitalization Plan for Kincardine which recommends:

Co-ordinations with current operations of museums, galleries and theatres.. to ensure event/project linkage and
support. BIA Chair Margriet Van Erp and board member Jacquie Faubert are helping organize the Artful Hands show:

"We hope to sponsor this as an annual event in September".The Chamber of Commerce and Municipalitiy of Kincardine are also supportive of the efforts of local Visual Artists and Artisan. "They produce high
quality and creative work which attracts tourists and locals alike."

Everyone is welcome to the Opening Reception, Friday 6-9pm. The reception is also host to a "Chamber after Hours" event hosted by the BIA and Artful Hands - featuring "the business of Heritage and the Arts in Kincardine". The
Committee hopes this group event will create interest and promote the option of fine art and craft for the home decor and gift shopper.

The Artful Hands show flyer is a directory of the group of 27 participants.

Shoppers can order work directly from the artists year round. The flyer includes great photos and contact information. The show and sale will include Paintings, Gourds, Illustrations, Photography, Murals, Prints, Wood Furniture, Jewellery, Clay, Weaving and Art Glass. Work will be on display throughout the main floor of the Walker House, 235 Harbour Street. Sept. 11, 12, and 13th.
