Kincardine council has granted approval for the municipal street
sweeper machine to clean the Legion parking lot on Lambton Street in
Kincardine. The motion was passed at the Sept. 3 council meeting.
"Is this not something that could be left to the foreman?" asked
councillor Mike Leggett. "The problem is, it's not in our current
policy," said Mayor Larry Kraemer.
"We should have a policy about when and where municipal equipment can be
borrowed or used," said councillor Guy Anderson.
Council agreed to have staff draft such a policy for future
consideration.

"This represents a pre-approved amount so there is no cost associated
with it unless the municipality must actually borrow the money," she
said, adding that, "the municipality has never had to draw on this
temporary credit but could require more than the previous limit of $1
million if it had to borrow not only for itself but for Bruce Telecom.
It would be advantageous to have a sufficient limit available to enable
a quick response should the need arise," she said.
The matter comes before council at its meeting Sept. 10.
The municipality has applied for a $41,800 Trillium grant for new
furnishings and equipment for the Davidson Centre addition (Recreation
Department) and the Kincardine and Area bid euchre/shooter card club.
The budget for the addition project is for construction costs only
therefore, several seniors' groups are fund-raising for furnishings and
equipment for the rooms in the addition.
Accounts in the amount of $2,527,986.31, to the end of Aug. 14, 2008;
and $1,069,289.73, ending Aug. 25, 2008, were approved for payment
