Storm Knocks out Power in Kincardine

Feature-Weather

(continued)

Several areas of Kincardine lost power Thursday afternoon due to the snowstorm that hit in the morning.

Buses were cancelled but most schools remained open, except Kincardine Township Tiverton Public School that was forced to close when Highway 21 was closed between Kincardine and Port Elgin at about 8:30 a.m.

Snow and high wind pelted the area and residents of Huron Ridge lost power in the afternoon and businesses such as Kincardine Home Hardware had reduced power all afternoon.

Many other Kincardine residents also saw reduced power (called a 'brown-out'), beginning just before 6 p.m. and, then, about an hour later, the hydro was out completely and remained out until approximately 9 p.m.
