Southampton United Church held an early celebration on November 2, 2008

Officially, the church building is 100 years old on November 6th but hundreds turned out for the special celebratory Sunday.

Reverend Fred Jackson, retired minister who served for more than 20 years at the Church, returned to conduct the service, recalling many of the early families that were part of his congregation, many of whom are still there today.  Included in the service was a mass choir made up of past and present members.

The Southampton United Church and Mount Hope pastoral charge, continue to grow today under the leadership of Reverend Keith Reynolds.  One of the major charitable initiatives is the joint Foodgrains Project, now in its 10th year. The partnership between Mt. Hope and Southampton United raised over $13,000 this year to help combat world hunger.  Matched 4:1 by the Canadian Government, the total contribution was $67,267.35.
