Ken Beitz
After
almost 18 years of providing services in fields such as refrigeration to
the Grey Bruce area, South-Port Geothermal has taken the progressive
step into environmental energy. Owner, Ken Beitz, has become the area's
certified dealer for geothermal energy accredited under the Canadian
Geoexchange Coalition (CGC) and feels so strongly about it
that he has installed it for his own use.
New Showroom
Ken's new showroom and workshop in North Bruce, only nine
km south of Port Elgin, has geothermal heating and cooling on display
and in operation.

"It only makes sense," says Beitz. "The ground is
filled with energy from the sun and the geothermal system works on heat
exchange.

(continued) We pull heat out of the ground in
the winter to provide heat and, in the summer, the system is reversed,
Heat is pulled out of the building and into the ground resulting in a
cooling affect. What could be easier, safer, more economical or, more
importantly, more environmental?"
Any home can or commercial building using electric heat, oil, propane or
natural gas can be changed over to Geothermal. The CGC accreditation
also means that South-Port Geothermal working with Geothermal
Manufacturer NextEnergy can also help with financing and arranging for
the government's grant of more than $8,000 that is available.
"When you know that you are going to spend only one-fifth to one-sixth
what you spend on propane or oil for a year, why wouldn't you want to at
least look at geothermal as an alternative?" Beitz points out.
"With a retrofit from a fossil fuel energy source, the pay-back period
is usually only 4 - 7 years.
