Lake Huron Being Searched Etobicoke Man LP0848521


(Kincardine, Ontario) South Bruce OPP is investigating an incident that occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. on the 28th of June 2008 where two men entered Lake Huron north of MacCaskell Road in the Municipality of Kincardine.  The men thought three teens that were kayaking were in distress and went out to assist them.  After making to the teens and assisting them towards shore, one of the men dropped out of sight.  One of the teens grabbed him and pulled him up to the surface.  When both were pulled under the teen had to let go in order to stay above the surface himself.  The 45 year old Etobicoke man was not seen after slipping below the surface.   

South Bruce OPP using the H.H Graham 2, the Kincardine Fire Department using ATV and their thermal imaging camera, the London Air Ambulance assisting with an air search, the Coast Guard, and numerous civilian assisted with water and shoreline search. 

South Bruce OPP suspended search efforts due to weather conditions and darkness.  The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit as well as members of the Emergency Response teams will be in Kincardine in the morning to assist with the search.
The incident remains under investigation.
