Despite that Canada Day fell mid-week, Southampton in Saugeen Shores was filled with visitors and the chilly weather didn't deter the annual Canada Day Sidewalk Art extravaganza, hosted by the Southampton Art Gallery.

Young imaginative 'artists' from as far away as Toronto, Kitchener and Cambridge wielded their paint brushes and chalk creating unique squares that will remain for most of the summer.

The Friends of Southampton Library also held their annual Canada Day sidewalk sale and crowds of people took advantage of the opportunity to stock up on summer reading material.
