The Huron-Kinloss planning meeting Monday night (July 27) will be at
the Ripley-Huron Community Centre auditorium to accommodate the
interest in the Ripley Square proposal by developer David Brown.
The Official Plan amendment and zoning amendment for the $10-million
project are scheduled for that meeting. It was originally to be held
at the township council chamber, but because more than 200 notices
have been sent out, the venue has been changed. The meeting begins
at 7 p.m.
Brown's proposed subdivision was discussed at the council meeting
Monday night (July 20), as council gave final reading to the zoning
amendment bylaw. A few minor changes were made to the plan which
would include 51 single-detached dwellings and 29 townhouse units on
23 acres of land at 32 Huron St., at the south end of Ripley. (next column)

A resident is concerned that Point Clark is starting
to look like a flea market with all the weekend yard sales. In a
letter to council, he said many items, including furniture, are set
out at the end of driveways and it's becoming an eyesore, especially
on Huron Road. Council agreed to have staff check into the situation
to see if it's an isolated incident or a real problem.

Someone has been firing guns near the Green Acres
Campground, much to the irritation of the campers there. Council
received a letter, stating another incident occurred Sunday (July
19) and the campground owners want something done about it.
Councillor Anne Eadie said the nearby gun club has put in place
safety precautions. Mayor Mitch Twolan suggested council meet with
the OPP and arms control and look into the situation.
