Residents to Miss the Post Office

Canada Post recently installed nine new postal box stations in Southampton due to the rapid growth and development in housing.

"I understand that the Post Office has seemingly run out of room so I just purchased my postal box," said Ken Cassavoy, coming out of the Southampton Post Office. "We have community boxes across the street from our town house complex but I decided to purchase the one I had."

Cassavoy, a renowned marine archeologist who head up the General Hunter shipwreck project on Southtampton beach, added that, "One of the reasons we liked Southampton was the quaint aspect of the downtown and part of that is the post office. It's a meeting place where everyone passes the time of day and talks as they get their mail. It's a real community gathering place that's being lost in other communities. The postal box cost me quite a bit of money but sometimes you have to do, what you have to do."
