Well the great weather last week helped to get a lot of beans combined and wheat planted and everyone will be getting ready for the next dry weather. Was that our Indian Summer?

Last week, Purple Grove WI members attended the Bruce County Rally at Underwood on Tuesday, with Betty Needham, Largaret McInnes, Deanna Scott, Fran Farrell, Janet Nixon and Marilyn Reid attending. Marilyn Reid - District President and Marion Leifso - Secretary conducted the meeting for the 84 members in attendance. The Theme - Rethink, Reduce, Reuse - was well received. Gunne Weber gave a brief Bruce County Museum report, Janet Nixon introduced the guests - Grey-Bruce Area President, Gretha Holmes, Grey Rally Chairperson -Barb Tomes; and Area Representative to FWIO, Barb Carter. Entertainment was Mabel Williamson and the guest speaker was Etty Broer on Recycling - more ideas for recycling items. The silent auction generated lots of activity and between $300-$400. Deanna Scott presented the Bruce County WI Scholarship to Carly McGlynn who is attending Wilfrid Laurier University. Yeah Carly!

Courtney Graham, Ripley Fair Ambassador, presented the First Project Certificates and Plaques and Year plates to members. It is hoped that the 4-H members will be encouraged to attend and participate next year at these events. A big thank you to Gay Lea for milk, Club Leaders for snacks and Pine River Cheese for the cheese tray. Also to Agri-Corp for the 4-H member Plaques and as always the Ripley Agricultural Society for its continued support of the Ripley 4-H Clubs.
