Bette MacLeod was happy to meet with her dear friend Evelyn Smith of Vineland recently.  Evelyn’s daughter, Alaire Ballint of Smithville, took her to the Kings Café in Stoney Creek. Freda Owen, friend of Alaire’s and Bette’s of London, picked Bette up and went there also. While they were there, Judy Hawrylyshyn (formerly of the 6th Concession) arranged to meet with them. So they had a wonderful reunion and the food was endless. 
 
Last Saturday night was the Awards Banquet for the Bruce County Plowmen at Tara. Chairman of the Plowing Association is Tom Evans and secretary is John Gillespie. 
 
On Friday evening the Bruce County Federation hosted its Annual Meeting and Dinner at the Elmwood Community Centre. Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Gerry Poechman for his extensive involvement with OFA, CFF and NFU. Gerry was also the first Organic Egg Producer in Canada and held several positions in the organic farming industry. The guest speaker was Duncan Hawthorne, CEO of Bruce Power. He spoke of Bruce Power’s history, social responsibility, production, and his vision of nuclear energy. The elections saw Lorne Underwood returned as President, John Gillespie, 1st Vice, and Aaron Legge as 2nd Vice. Bruce Federation meetings are always open to anyone interested in farming and policy changes. 


On Saturday, St. Andrew’s UCW Bazaar was well attended and provided lots of baking, produce, canning and craft items.  
 
It seemed like it was a pretty quiet Halloween in our neighbourhood, just lot of wind blowing around. OOOO!  
 
Reminder to order your name blades for the 911 signs from Dianne Simpson at 519-395-5362 if you want them before Christmas.
 
Wednesday evening is our WI meeting at the Community Centre. Program is on Mental Health. See you at 7:30 p.m.! Have a good week everyone!
