The Port Elgin library expansion got another leg up the ladder of fundraising on Monday from the Power Workers Union (PWU) Bruce Site Equity Committee. The new 3,000 square foot expansion was partially funded with more than $732,000 in the form of Ontario Infrastructure Grant from the Province leaving $350,000 to be raised through local fundraising efforts. The PWU added $25,000 to its $5,000 contribution made earlier this year for a total of $30,000 toward the expansion. The new addition will ensure that the original Carnegie library will be accessible to all with a newly installed elevator. The PWU was established in 2006 with a focus on making cash disbursements from Bruce Site equity funds to community organizations and local causes on behalf of the 2600 PWU members who work for Bruce Power. 13/01/2009 04:18 PM
