Police Auction Saturday June 14, 2008

Crowd sizes up the bikes

Saugeen Shores Police held their annual bike auction on Saturday as a fundraiser for Titan, the police dog, who recently required major surgery.

Constable Tracey Smith said that Titan's handler, Andy Stewart, is about to begin very aggressive physiotherapy with Titan so that his damaged right shoulder does not atrophy.  'Titan's also going to begin swimming which will force him to use both front legs evenly.'

Although Titan is in daily therapy, he still has the keen instinct developed through his training.  Smith said, 'Andy took him tracking and he still does what he was trained to do and we're confident he'll be back in top form.'

The bike auction is a chance for anyone to bid on bikes that have gone unclaimed at the Police Station.  While most were in good condition others were ideal for parts only.
