Sophie Champagne of Southampton brought forward a 'mini-petition' to council at Monday night's meeting.

Champagne represented 18 residences located on Knowles Lane in Southampton, all asking that the Lane be turned back into a one-way artery. The designation was recently changed during a bout of By-Law changes that recently went through Council.

"I know there are also other requests," said Mayor Mike Smith, "and I expect that Council will be looking at the By-Laws again in the fall."

Councillor Thead Seaman asked if the residents would consider changing the Lane to one-way in a southerly direction.

"There is a lot of traffic and changing the direction to head south would create even more," said Champagne.

"Well," replied Seaman, "I would never support a change if it's to going northbound."

Mayor Smith promised Champagne that Council would look at the situation in the fall.
