The money will go toward a new bone mineral density machine which is the fund-raising item for the CKNX Radiothon on Oct. 16. About $50,000 of the required $75,000 has been raised for the machine. Currently, the machine is used about three times per week. Kenzie Ford, 7, of Kincardine, holds up a 10-inch ponytail she is donating to Angel Hair for Kids. A program of A Child's Voice Foundation, it provides wigs and hair-loss solutions to financially-disadvantaged Canadian children who have lost their hair due to a medical condition or treatment. It takes 10-12 donated ponytails to make one hair prosthesis. Kenzie decided to grow her hair long enough to donate, after talking to a friend's dad about the program in August. She urges other children to grow their hair long and donate it to this worthy cause. Duncan Hawthorne (R), president and chief executive officer of Bruce Power, and Vaj Banday (L), one of the Bruce Power employees who helped spearhead this major fund-raising drive, present a cheque for $100,000 to Stephanie Murray of the Owen Sound/Grey-Bruce Branch of the Red Cross on Friday. The money will go to help victims of flooding in Pakistan. Bruce Power employees contributed more than $48,000 to the cause during a gate collection Aug. 23 and Bruce Power topped it up to $50,000 and then matched the amount.
