The Bruce County Household Hazardous Waste Day was held at the Kincardine public works building Saturday (Aug. 15). The line-up was not as long this year as people dropped off such things as paint, solvents and used oil to be disposed of properly.

An MTO employee waves traffic around a vehicle that lies in the middle of Highway 21 in front of Canadian Agra, north of Kincardine, Wednesday morning. A motorist, who was first on the scene, was already directing traffic around the obstruction. The vehicle looked like it was a piece of grooming equipment that had fallen off a transport truck, taking it to wherever it was to be used. South Bruce OPP arrived moments later to investigate the incident.

Be sure to come to Kincardine Sunday, August 2 for the Calypso Market Sale from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The streets will be closed with lots of music and food and all Kincardine merchants will have sale items on the street. Nine Waves will be taking part with many great sales that will also continue through on the Monday.

Ben Netzke is getting ready for the Kincardine Scottish Festival this weekend, in a big way.

At 10, he chalked the tartan that will welcome the Durham Regional Pipe band. The band will be using the Netzkes' backyard to practice in as the family lives immediately east of Victoria Park where the festival is being held. It took him a half-hour to do up the sidewalk in the tartan colours.

Allison (L), 4, Meagan, 8, and Kimberley Huggard, 11, daughters of Steve and Roxanne Huggard of Kincardine, were serving refreshments and providing entertainment at Queen Street and Durham Market North, Monday, under the watchful eye of their mother and grandmother. The girls were raising money to help sponsor their two foster children, one from Guatemala and the other from Nicaragua. They also want to help sponsor more foster children.
