Old cornerstone part of new garden at St. Anthony's

Religion(continued)

Gathered around the cornerstone and grotto at St. Anthony's Catholic Church are Carol Douel (L), Paul Dennis, John Douel, Father Don Wilhelm and Sharon Martin

Part of the former Catholic church on Huron Terrace, Kincardine, has become the 'cornerstone' for a grotto in front of St. Anthony's Catholic Church on Russell Street.

The original cornerstone, came from the church that was dedicated in 1950 on the location where the fitness centre, 'Gym Bags', is now located. That building served the parish until the new church was completed in 1983, with a formal dedication on Jan. 15, 1984.

The cement grotto and urns sitting on top of the cornerstone came from Merv's Patio in Dublin. Carol Douel is now building a garden around the new structure which will be dedicated later this year.
