October will now see the start of frosts through-out the area. We used to get Frosts start in September, so is this Global Warming?

Also over the years past, a fall of two of snow, Usually comes, and is gone quickly.

A spell of Summer returns -often - at the time of the Feast of St Luke, October 18. This period is also often to as Indian Summer. (Indian Summer can also be in next month...see more November 1)

The Full Moon on the 4th of October at 02.10 is the HARVEST MOON, really no need to comment on the why's!

Meteor Showers due this month are:

Draconid --- Point of Origin NW Date Oct. 9. Rate 6/hr . Associated comet - Giacobini-Zinner. Best view-Late evening

Orionid - From the S. Dates- 21-22 October. Rate 15/hr. From comet Halley. Best time - Predawn


Next month we shall begin a new series of FULL MOON NAMES, and including the Tribes that named them.
