It was a first for the Kincardine Lions Club as it inducted a new member, Michael Whitney, grandson of Lion Chris Lynam, at its initial meeting of the 2009-2010 year Sept. 1, at the New Seasons Restaurant.

President Jim Prenger was the chairman, with 26 members in attendance and five guests (prospective members).

This is the first time the club has inducted a new member at its first meeting of the year, the first time the grandson of a member has joined, and currently, Whitney, at age 18, is the youngest member of the club.

Three of the other guests were also under age 30. The club is pleased to see young people taking an interest in improving their community.
