The Town of Saugeen Shores' Accessible Playground Fundraising Committee was recently given a jolt of good news regarding the Integrated Accessible Playground at Jubilee Park in Southampton.

Bruce Power is contributing $75,000 toward the project and has also expressed interest in adding a sensory garden which will not only add to the esthetics of the area but will also help those with visual impairments to fully enjoy the new park. The contribution will also allow a landscaping expansion to include sufficient shade areas to be created along with various plant types.

Town staff and members of the fundraising committee are in the process of reviewing proposals for playground equipment from three companies and a report is expected to be presented to Council in the next few weeks along with a recommendation that negotiations be entered into with one of the three.

Installation will not begin until all funds have been raised and new fundraising totals, including potential donors, will be presented in an updated budget in the near future.
