Ever toured a cemetery or ever wanted to? On August 11th, at 7:00
p.m., the Bruce County Genealogical Society invites everyone to take a
tour of the Southampton Cemetery.
In existence, officially, since 1860, the present cemetery has a long
and varied past and nowhere is it documented more thoroughly than in
John Weichel's book 'Forgotten Lives - Early history of a coastal
village' available at the Museum. (next column)

A local historian, Weichel has set out the history of not only the
present cemetery but the early burial grounds throughout Southampton,
now long forgotten.
On August 11th, Steven McLean, Saugeen Shores Cemetery Manager, will
conduct the tour that will then be followed by a discussion surrounding,
Mysterious Deaths in Southampton, at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural
Centre.
The event is free and everyone is welcome.
