Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre is about to implement a new program to promote corporate sponsorships.

Curator and Director, Barbara Ribey, asked County Council recently to approve the program. "We think this will be a win-win situation," said Ribey.

The new program will cost $250 per year and will include a wide variety of 'perks', including six guest passes each year, a newsletter, special event invitations, 10 per cent off facility rentals and 10 per cent off giftshop purchases.

Ribey brought forward two programs, the other being a special school membership. Council approved the Corporate program but would not approve the school membership portion because neither had been on the agenda but had been added as an addendum.

"I don't like this one bit," said Wiarton Mayor Gwen Gilbert, "and will oppose it. This isn't an addendum, it's an ambush. We need this in front of us to approve it.!"

After a vote, the Corporate program was passed, with Gilbert opposing it, while the school initiative was not. Ribey agreed to bring details of the school program forward to Council at its next meeting
