Kincardine has received $721, 784 from the provincial government for municipal infrastructure projects. The grant is part of the $1.1-billion investment made by premier Dalton McGuinty's Liberal government, as announced Aug. 25 by Huron-Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell, to be used to improve roads and bridges, expand public transit and build other municipal projects.

The increase in infrastructure funding is a result of the government passing the Investing in Ontario Act, 2008, said Mitchell. Because of that act, the government's surplus above $600 million for the 2007-08 fiscal year flowed to municipalities to fund infrastructure projects.

"Through this investment, the McGuinty government is taking another step forward in our relationship with our municipal partners," said Mitchell.

"The municipalities in Huron-Bruce will now have the ability to choose their next infrastructure project, and to move that project forward"

Brockton received $622,815; Huron-Kinloss received $420,874, Saugeen Shores received $757,120, South Bruce received $383,664; and Bruce County received $1,955,044 through the grant.
