Town Council More Road Construction |

There will soon be more road construction in Port Elgin. Wellington Street from Fraser Court to Woodland Drive is about to get a facelift. The project will include storm sewers as well as curbs and gutters in addition to storm sewers on Woodland Drive. Town Council approved the construction at its meeting Monday night by awarding the tender to Harold Sutherland Construction Ltd. with the winning bid of $257,765.10 (plus taxes). The Town received six tenders in all: Harold Sutherland $257.765.10; Doug Welsh Construction $292,481.23; E.C. King Construction $315,248.75; Omega Contractors Inc. $331,976.75; P.C.N. Construction $352,260.00 and SMRS Construction $365,860.00. According to head of Engineering, Dave Burnside, the construction will begin almost immediately
