Mitakewe ah sin

(We are all related)

Priscilla Yellowhead Tobey

"As we all take pride in our own Nations and in who we are, we sometimes forget we came from the same Creator... that same God or Spirit who is called by different names.

It is that same Creator spirit that watches over each of us every day. If we always acknowledge the Spirit at all times and not just when we're in trouble and we walk in a good way, we would have a more peaceful world ... we could hold hands ... we could be one nation  ... a nation of humanity on the earth."

Mitakewe ah sin (We are all related)

Look down on us with pity
Oh Great Spirit who created us
 One Creator, One People

Do we imagine in our minds
that we are all so different?
 Every nation - every people
 Our blood runs red
 Every nation - every people
Our hearts beat as one drum.

Do you look down on our iniquities
And hide your face
Is the thunder your sobs?
Is the rain your tears?

Can we not walk hand in hand
One Nation - One People
Not red, not black, not white, not yellow tracks
But one nation - one people.

Look down on us with love
Oh Great Spirit who created us
One Creator -One People
