According to Dave Burnside, head of engineering for the Town of Saugeen Shores, there have been three Part 2 order requests to the Ministry of the Environment regarding the proposed sewer expansion.

"A Part 2 is terminology used by the Ministry," Burnside explained. "What it means is that they have requested additional information on the Environmental Assessment. Right now, the Ministry has a Project Evaluator looking at all the information and the Evaluator could then request further information from the Town. In any event, the Evaluator's report will go to the Minister who will then make a decision."

There are three options that the Minister has. One is to go ahead with the project, another is to go ahead but with additional conditions for the town to follow or, finally, to order more studies and plans which could delay the project. The time-frame for a decision is 66 days from October 22nd.

"We know there is still lots of interest in this project and that many people do, in fact, want to see it go ahead," Burnside added. "Those who don't want the sewer expansion have apparently also formed an association called the North Shore Neighbours Association."
