Principals may timetable up to half of their grade 7 / 8 program in a rotary delivery model

Principals continue to work with their staff advisory committee (provided for in ETFO contract and comprised of divisional representation and union steward) to gather input related to school organization related to learning needs of all students

In 30 of 36 schools that have traditionally operated in a homeroom model, SCC consultation would be required to move to a rotary delivery model.

Such consultation could take place for the 2010-11 school year

Principals will consider input related to reduction of rotary previously received from SCC’s in determining school organization

The above information concerns the issue of Rotary Education in the Bluewater School District  In the Rotary Model, math and science in 7th and 8th grade are taught by specialists.

PRINCIPAL PRIORITIES:

Maintaining uninterrupted blocks of time in all divisions (increased rotary in grades 7/8 impacts organization in primary and junior divisions)

Consideration of the number of teacher-student contacts is a priority to ensure students are tracked academically and socially

Scheduling part-time teachers to maximize instructional time
Planning for exceptional students must be considered e.g. mobility, technology supports, FM systems

Consideration of technology centre schedules and student services support schedules

School program plan focus based on student data must be reflected in school organization to continue moving forward
Working with staff and parents to provide a school organization that is based on student learning needs
