Marine Heritage Society and the Propeller Club Score a Home Run!

by Larry LePage

After five months of planning and many obstacles, the results were apparent as thousands lined the harbour to view the Tall Ship Playfair enter the Harbour.  Marine Heritage Chairman Larry LePage took the above photo as the Playfair loomed out of the fog.  Larry was on board the tour boat Peerless as it escorted the Tall Ship in to the harbour.

As you can see from the Ian Evans photo there were lots of viewers.  Estimates are from 3000 to 5000 people gathered.  There was food,  music and lots of bikes and children.  People in the community are coming to use bikes more and more as our advertiser Martin's Bike Shop can attest.

Special congratulations should be given for event organizer Gord Webb who worked tirelessly to get the day in order.  Gord is president of the Propeller Club.

Playfair comes to the Oldest Port on the Bruce Coast by Ian Evans

Pioneer Park maintained by the Propeller Club is certainly the best Park in the community.  It was spotless and much used Saturday even for a wedding.  Ali Kelly who head park work deserves congratulations.  The Town employees really helped to make the harbour look good too.  Pete Knectel is always there to help, when asked.
