Lots of activity this summer at Paddy Walker Heritage Centre

Heritage(continued)

It has been a productive summer at the Paddy Walker Heritage Centre, located in Kincardine's oldest building, the Walker House. The historical building has played host to many out-of-town and local groups including antique car enthusiasts, local tradespeople, childrens' craft and learning gatherings, church groups and red hat ladies. The strong turn-out for the new exhibits and events has demonstrated the community’s continuing support for the Walker House.

The three summer students have gained valuable experience and, in turn, the heritage centre has benefitted from their energy and ideas. The Walker House has also been host to bridal showers, weddings, art openings, birthdays and planning business meetings.

With the facility beginning its second year as a fully-operational community heritage centre, the board of directors has decided this year to implement a winter schedule. Starting Thanksgiving weekend it will be open to the public on a pre-arranged basis only, and will open again on a regular schedule for the Easter weekend. The winter schedule will still accommodate many exciting exhibits, the speaker series, arranged guided tours, workshops and facility rentals throughout the winter months.
