Lions Club embarks on playground project

The Kincardine Lions Club has received a $30,000 Trillium grant to replace the playground equipment at the Lions Park beside the Davidson Centre in Kincardine.

Huron-Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell was on hand Wednesday (Nov. 12) to make the presentation, along with Liz Fry of the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

They checked out the site which currently consists of piles of gravel and debris from when the old equipment was removed. However, the club's past president Ken Fair showed them the plans for the new playground which will be accessible to everyone.

The project will cost about $130,000, with the Lions Club covering $12,000, the Municipality of Kincardine, $89,000, and the Trillium grant of $30,000. The playground should be completed by next spring.

"It's a huge project," said Mitchell, noting the club is true to its motto, 'we serve,' by providing the children of the community with a wonderful opportunity to be outside for fun and games.
