The repair crew under the supervision of "Lighthouse Bill" Parton discusses the removal and replacement of the stones.

Over 150 years of weathering have caused some of the stones to 'spall'.  This is the result of lashing winds, snow and rain from the southwest and then freezing temperatures.  This is followed by sunshine and the stone deteriorates.  It's held up wonderfully over a century and one half.  Now it is getting a much needed tune-up.

The tours continue while the work goes on uninterrupted.
