Local Port Elgin athlete Josh Cassidy is already a winner but, now he is training to go to the next Paralympics.

On Saturday, Cassidy was at Legault's Independent Grocers in Port Elgin autographing the 'Gold Box of Cheerios' that bears his photo. Each box is sold for $4.99 and, of that, $3.00 goes directly to Cassidy for the purchase of a new Paralympic racing wheelchair.

Owner Marcel Legault is a staunch supporter of Cassidy and, therefore, the Cheerio campaign will run throughout the weekend. In addition, Legault presented a cheque for $1500 on behalf of the Port Elgin Rotary Club to Cassidy.

"I am very close to being able to get a new wheelchair," responds Cassidy, "and for that I am truly grateful." What Cassidy doesn't say however, is that his equipment costs are ongoing, in addition to travel costs and training costs. To achieve a dream in athletics is not easy but Cassidy pursues his [dream].
