Kincardine buys heat recovery unit for Tiverton Sports Centre

Kincardine council has approved the purchase of a heat recovery unit for the Tiverton Sports Centre at a cost of $51,133.20 plus GST. Installed on the rooftop, the unit provides fresh air to the dressing rooms and the kitchen.

The project tender was awarded to Ken Robinson Refrigeration Inc. which was the only bid received.

The budget was $45,000, funded by the Investing in Ontario Act grant. Recreation director Karen Kieffer said the shortfall will come from surplus funds from two other projects: accessible doors at the Tiverton Arena ($3,854) and repairs to the Davidson Centre entranceway ($2,279.20).

Council approved the purchase so the unit would be installed before the ice went in at the arena.
