Sir John Stainer's Masterpiece
The Crucifixion
|
One week from today, on Good Friday March 21st, many singers from
throughout Bruce County will come together at Southampton's United
Church, in a mass choir presentation of Sir John Stainer's masterpiece,
The Crucifixion. The challenging Easter Lenten cantata, that has been sung in more than 40 languages, will be a collaborative Ecumenical effort under the direction of John Tite, accompanied on organ by Marjorie Tite, directors of the Southampton United Church Choir. The amalgamated choir of approximately 30 voices, will also feature several soloists. John de Jaeger from Goderich will perform the demanding tenor solo with Southampton United Church's own, Robin Gibson, filling the bass soloist role. Additional solo parts will also be sung by retired Reverend Chuck Beaton and Steve Tite. A prelude, played by Marian Pedwell, will begin the evening at 7:30 p.m. with the main concert at 8:00 p.m. There will be a 'freewill offering' at the door. |
