Improving Internet access throughout Bruce County
By Liz Dadson

If you are unable to connect to the Internet from your home, Lisa Lang wants to hear from you.

The Broadband Project co-ordinator for Bruce County spoke to Huron-Kinloss council Dec. 1 at its general committee meeting. Her job is to identify "dead spots" where people cannot access the Internet.

"It's all part of the Rural Connections Broadband Program, a $30-million, four-year initiative by the provincial government. The goal is to reduce broadband infrastructure gaps in rural southern Ontario so people can fully participate in the digital economy. It will also improve public access to government services and information, and enhance quality of life," she said.

"Bruce County put $100,000 toward this project," said mayor Mitch Twolan. "There are underserviced areas. We need to get the word to people who don't have this service."
