Fifteen members of the Ilderton Precisionnaires, the Canadian
championship precision-skating team, brought their talent and magic to
the Tiverton Sports Centre Saturday night.
The girls, ages 12-16, include local skater Jaclyn McBride, daughter of
George and Anne McBride, who has been with the team for almost a year.
Coach Carol Moir said most of the girls are from Ilderton and north
London. However, Jaclyn attended the try-outs and workshop last spring
and she was chosen for the team. "The family decided to support her
which is a huge commitment," said Moir. "And since they have had to do
all the driving throughout the year, we agreed to come to Tiverton and
perform here for her family." Moir said Jaclyn has the skills to make it
to a competitive senior team. (next column)

The Ilderton Precisionnaires began about 25 years ago as
a sychronized skating team, said Moir, noting that was back when the
discipline was new and the skaters were girls in their late teens. "We
have kept the Precisionnaires name but the girls are now ages 12-16,"
she said.
The team performed during the first intermission of the Tiverton Reunion
hockey game Saturday night and the crowd watched in amazement as the
girls went through their routine which included pinwheels, line-skating,
and pass-throughs. It was an impressive and nearly flawless show.
The team has just returned from the Canadian Championships in Oshawa
where the girls won a gold medal for the third year in a row.
