Sometimes in our life, we come to a point where we need to take a stand
and say, I commit to walk in a new way.
I took a break in my busy life and spent a few days pondering what I
should do. I have always lived the teaching of my parents and
grandparents, but I think I needed to live them more fully and to teach
the culture that I knew so well.
On one of those days, I was lying in the grass and I fantasized that my
Mother Earth's heart was beating with mine, but in reality it was my own
heart pounding so hard at the decision I had made, and this is what I
thought.
The Joining Of Heartbeats
I lay upon my Mother Earth
To feel the warm rays of my Father Sun
But what is this pounding that I feel
Like a drum
In tune with my heart
I listen
Louder than mine
More in tune with the Red Way
And my very soul hungered
To hear the message
It beat
So clearly now
This message of Mother Earth
And it sunk
Deep within my whole being
Listen!
Live!
Remember the Creator who made you
Remember the ways
Remember the path
Go and teach my ways
GO
And walk in peace always
