Huron-Kinloss 2009 Lucknow Budget Issues

Huron-Kinloss Council(continued)

Council accepted the Lucknow Community Health Centre Board's 2009 budget and is looking at the possibility of an expansion to the dentist's office in Lucknow.

This could mean the relocation of the medical clinic, which shares the dental office building, to one of the empty buildings in Lucknow. Council's share in the health centre board's budget is $6,000.

"We have a medical clinic in Ripley and one in Lucknow, plus we support doctor recruitment in Kincardine," said councillor Anne Eadie. "We have to look at the best business plan for all of this."

"We're open to options," said mayor Mitch Twolan.

Fire Board:

Council also accepted the 2009 budget for the Lucknow and District Fire Board with the township's share at $70,212.20.

Councillor Jim Hanna said there are concerns about mould in the existing fire hall. "We've asked the fire chief to get quotes for getting rid of the mould," said Hanna, "and he's gathering information on a new hall. Costs for new construction are more attractive now."

"We would need to put the fire hall in a different location and that is easily done with a new building," said councillor Don Murray.
