Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb tested out the new paving on Concession 4 of
Huron-Kinloss, meeting with mayor Mitch Twolan and public works
director Hugh Nichol at Reid's Corners Thursday afternoon.
The $1-million project to pave the concession from Highway 21 to the
Huron-Kinloss boundary was made possible with federal and provincial
funding through the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund. Each level of
government put in one-third of the cost to make the road-paving a
reality.
Lavis Construction of Clinton is doing the work, and Nichol said the
project is 60-per-cent done. "The base coat is completed and they've
already started the second coat," he said. "We chose this road for
the grant application because it goes straight through the centre of
the township."
With this part paved, it also means the entire concession from
Highway 21 to the Lucknow Road has been resurfaced, said Nichol. (next column)
