This is the first in a series of 11 homes that will be featured on
the upcoming Christmas Home Tour fundraiser being organized by the
Saugeen Shores Chambettes and the Tara Curling Club.
This first location, the Myers Home, located on south Rankin Street in
Southampton, was designed and built in a 1920s style beach home by
Devitt-Uttley in 1987. It was - the first home that the company built.
The yellow Victorian overlooks the Saugeen River and Southampton Harbour
and, with 3,900 sq. ft., every room was carefully thought out to ensure
that each has a view of the river, lake or both.
Its original owners, the Weichel family, named the home "Watch Hill" and
it is meticulous in its construction with custom cherry and pine
woodwork, a coffered wood ceiling, 14 inch baseboards, raised wood
panels, trim mouldings, cabinetry and flooring.
"Watch Hill" now owned by Lorin and Michelle Myers will be decorated for
the tour by August Skies Home Decor of Port Elgin and Shoreline Stone
and Garden Centre.
The Tour is this Friday and Saturday (20th & 21st)
... Friday 6 - 9 and all day Saturday.
