The Owen Sound Museums, which governs the museums Billy Bishop Home and Museum – A National Historic Site and Marine & Rail Museum, received a boost today with news of a $7,500 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). Bill Murdoch, MPP for Owen Sound, joined OTF representative Kees van Alst to congratulate the group on their new funding.

“The Owen Sound Museums are a great part of our community,” said Murdoch. “They provide tourists and locals a look into the past and help people understand the area better.”

Over the next year, the OTF grant will be used by the Owen Sound Museums to install proper storage units and window filters in their newly renovated site. “It is important that artifacts are stored away from harmful environmental conditions such as UV rays and fluctuating temperatures to preserve them for our future generations,” said Owen Sound Museums Manager Mary Smith. “This grant will allow us to ensure our significant artifacts are stored properly and safely in our newly environmentally controlled storage space.”
