Joyce Johnston, Chair of the Municipal Heritage Committee presented the 2009 Heritage Conservation Award to the Dunblane Church Committee at the recent Town Council meeting.

The award is presented to groups or individuals for protecting original buildings and educating others about historic buildings.

Dunblane, was originally built in 1859 by pioneer settlers and celebrated its Jubilee celebration in 1909, its Centennial year in 1959 and, more recently, its 150th this year.

Committee member, Marilyn Scott, said that all who have worked on the Committee since the church closed in 1968, have taken pride in the building and the grounds. "Each year we hold an anniversary service and I would like to commend the Heritage Committee for all the work and it's important for any committee to value its past and preserve its history."
