Former
Bruce Telecom President and CEO, Hans Nilsson, received an award last
week in Quebec City for Outstanding Service on the Board of the
Organization of Promotions and Advancement for Small Telecommunications
Companies (OPASTCO).
The national trade association started 35 years ago and represents more
than 500 small, independently owned local exchange carriers (LECS) and
affiliate telecommunications companies. (next column)

The companies range in size from fewer than 100 to as many as 100,000
access lines and collectively serve more than 2.5 million customers and
primarily serve rural areas in Canada and the United States.
Nilsson served on the Board of Directors from 2003 to 2008 and the award
is considered very prestigious in the telecommunications industry
