Queen Street In order to make it more convenient for clients in Kincardine,
the Gordon Lake Veterinary Clinic has expanded into an office at 937
Queen St., Kincardine.
Owned and operated by Dr. Heather White, Doctor of Veterinary
Medicine, Queen Street Veterinary Services opened about three weeks
ago and complements the Gordon Lake clinic, located northeast of
Kincardine at 113 Concession 5, just east of the Bervie Sideroad in
the former Kincardine Township.
The Kincardine office is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., while the rural clinic is open
Monday and Friday, 1-5 p.m. and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
"In mid-February we decided to find a place more convenient for our
clients since 95 per cent of them are driving out to the clinic in
the township," says White. "People didn't mind the drive, but the
office wasn't large enough for the volume of people we were
getting."
She and her husband, Andrew, also a veterinarian and owner of Pine
River Mobile Vet Service for large animals, decided to combine
forces at the office in Quinn Plaza, just north of Kincardine
Foodland. They renovated the building in March and opened in April.
Heather Ward, a registered veterinary technician, works with Heather
White at both locations and says surgeries and X-ray work are still
done at the rural clinic, as well as after-hour emergencies. Clients
can bring in their animals for examinations, basic laboratory work,
and pick up pet food and drugs at the Queen Street clinic. Also on
staff, there are veterinary technician student Jaclyn Smith, and
receptionists Jenny Wilken and Laurie Cohoon.
The new clinic features separate rooms for cats and dogs, a storage
area, offices, a playroom, and a kennel room. If surgery or x-ray is
required, clients have the option of dropping off their pets at the
in-town location if they do not have a vehicle or don't wish to
drive to Gordon Lake.
Andrew White, owner of Pine River Mobile Veterinary Services, now
also operates out of the Queen St. Clinic, offering a pharmacy
dispensary to their large animal clients. Andrew also works as a
small animal vet at the Queen Street location during the week.
The Kincardine office is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.,
and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., while the rural clinic is open
Monday and Friday, 1-5 p.m. and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can
reach Queen Street Veterinary Services at 519-396-3647. (next column)
